So I saw via John Davison’s Twitter feed that What They Play was giving away beta keys for Ether Saga Online, a free-to-play MMO based on Journey to the West. If you know anything about me, the latter-most part of that description would be enough to get me to sign up.
I downloaded and installed the game this evening. This was the first time I’ve ever laid eyes on any MMO for longer than two seconds, and the first time I’ve ever actually personally played one, myself.
WTF is all this…?! How can anyone make sense of this kind of screen? I’m so lost.
Back to quarter-circle-punch for me.
Yeah that does look really confusing.
Hahaaa wow… This is why I don’t play MMO’s. I’m sure some people can make it out better than others, but I’m sure even they had to take time to figure it all out.
The only MMORPG I ever played was Ragnarok Online back in the original beta, mostly because my then-GF was already into it.
Otherwise, I can’t justify to myself playing such games for hours on end. Video games are a hobby, not a job. I have plenty to worry about “finding sw33t loot and keeping up with my guild” in real life.
MMOs can be a fun distraction if you don’t take them too seriously. I refuse to pay a monthly fee on one, but free to play games can certainly be fun. I just got a beta key to ESO myself, so if you want someone to decipher the game with, let me know.
