How to Get to Slewse in Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake

As I’ve written before: this isn’t normally a walkthrough or FAQ kind of site/blog, but goddamn did this drive me nuts (mostly because I am the kind of person that just does not see obvious things in front of him in video games — yellow paint was made for me), so hopefully this writeup can save someone else some heartache!

Also: I know how to use words and post images. Yeah, you read the same Reddit posts I did, and just like me you were left scratching your head wondering how and why they were allowed to use the Internet.

So you’re playing Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake, you’re probably approaching the end-game, you’ve talked with Elmoo, and you’re tasked with going to Slewse. It’s conveniently marked on your map, and it looks like you can just sail on up. You probably Zoomed over to Beran or somewhere else in the south-west, and you’re on your way. Great!

So what’s the problem? It’s blocked. It’s right in front of you, and you can’t get there. WTF.

Here’s the problem: you sailed up the wrong way. You probably took this path, right?

WRONG! It’s obvious in retrospect, but you need to sail up the western of the two riverways.

From here, you can drop yourself on land and then walk your way all the way counter-clockwise around the continent here, including up and around the town…

…which will eventually plop you right there in front of of it.

Congrats: you made it to Slewse!
